Oumua has improved my quality of life. After 1.5 months of everyday training, I have fewer to none episodes of breath shortness, and my dyspnea improved. My accessible lung capacity was originally 2.6 L, it has since increased to 4.6 L. I can even reach a 5 L mark from time to time. I can finally take care of the garden without constantly reaching for an inhaler.

COPD makes it hard to take a deep breath, so I need to work on strengthening my inhale. If I did inhalation and exhalation sequences together like other trainers imply, I would only have increased the existing respiratory imbalance. Oumua has 2 separate air flows, one to fight inspiratory resistance, another one to pump your exhalation muscles. A very intuitive and easy-to-use device. Also, it has everything you need to tailor the training protocol to your needs. Life has become so much easier since I started exercising.

There is very little info on what exactly you should do to get back to “normal” self after COVID. 4 months in, I still had a horrid brain fog and apathy, I didn’t sleep well and couldn’t focus on the simplest tasks for more than 5 minutes straight. I was first skeptical about Oumua because working out in general made very little difference on how I felt, and I was still tired all the time. About a week into regular exercising, I suddenly realized there was no more brain fog, and I could think clearly again. Respiratory muscle training is not a super-intuitive option, but it turned out to be a great solution for my post-COVID syndrome. I haven’t missed one day since then, because it only takes like 10 minutes a day to properly condition my breathing muscles, I usually do it while driving on my way to and from work. I also noticed my heart and breathing rates decreased, which definitely helps with work-related anxiety and stress

Improved respiratory endurance:
Inspiratory muscle training can improve inspiratory endurance and time to fatigue in patients with asthma.
Increased quality of life:
Respiratory muscle training can be an effective way to enhance respiratory muscle strength, exercise capacity, quality of life, daily living activities, reduced perception of dyspnea, and fatigue in asthmatic.
Decreased dyspnea:
IMT has been shown to decrease dyspnea, increase inspiratory muscle strength, and improve exercise capacity in asthmatic individuals.
Effectiveness of RMT:
RMT is effective for adults with COPD when using threshold or targeted devices that control or provide a target for training intensity.
Decreased dyspnea:
Dyspnea is decreased after IMT. Quality of life , exercise capacity and Maximal inspiratory pressure were increased.
RMT and COVID:
IMT program should be encouraged in the COVID-19 management protocol.
Improved functional capacity:
The IMT improves functional capacity and balance, respiratory and peripheral muscle strength; decreases depression and dyspnea perception in patients with heart failure.
Improved blood pressure:
IMT offers a low cost, nonpharmacologic means of improving … blood pressure in patients who are intolerant of CPAP.
